History of Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain was founded in 1970, following the merger of several Parisian clubs with the aim of forming a competitive side capable of rivalling the best teams in France. The club quickly reached the top flight of French football and won its first French league title in 1986. PSG play at the capital’s legendary stadium, the Parc des Princes, which has seen renowned players take to its pitch even long before the club was bought by the Qataris.
The arrival of QSI: a new era for PSG
In 2011, PSG was taken over by a Qatari consortium which invested heavily in the club. The club’s objective was to win the Champions League, and to this end it has signed famous football stars over the years. From Zlatan Ibrahimović and Thiago Silva to Cavani, Neymar, Messi and Mbappé, the capital’s club has spared no effort in raising its profile on the international stage.
