Fiorentina, officially known as ‘ACF Fiorentina’, was founded in 1926 in Florence, Italy. Under the management of Fulvio Bernardini, the club won its first major titles, including two Italian league titles in 1956 and 1969, as well as several domestic cups. Arriving as Roberto Baggio’s successor, Batigol experienced a turbulent start to his career, notably including relegation to Serie B. Yet he chose to remain at the club despite this setback, and the love affair between the Argentine and the Viola supporters began. The club were immediately promoted back to the top flight, and Fiorentina subsequently established themselves amongst the leading sides in the Italian league. Gabriel Batistuta remains the club’s all-time leading goalscorer with 203 goals to his name.
